Karachi: The Sindh government has once again sought respite from the Election Commission for the second phase of local body elections.
In the written report submitted by the Sindh government to the Election Commission, it has been said that there is a shortage of 16 thousand 786 police personnel due to which it is not possible to hold local elections.
In the written report submitted by Sindh government in the meeting of Election Commission of Pakistan, it is stated that a total of 39,293 police personnel are required for the second phase of the municipal elections, of which only 22,507 personnel are available while there is a shortage of more than 16,000 personnel.
The Sindh government has taken a stand that 1305 polling stations have been declared sensitive and 3688 as highly sensitive for local elections. 8 policemen are to be posted at highly sensitive polling stations and 4 at sensitive polling stations.
