Karachi: The Sindh government has once again requested the Election Commission to postpone the local body elections in Karachi.
A letter was written by the Sindh government to the Election Commission to postpone the elections for 3 months, in which it was said that if the municipal elections in Karachi are not postponed, they should be held in a phased manner.
The post said that local body elections should be held in 3 districts in the first phase and in 4 districts in the second phase as security personnel are not available in the required number in the current situation.
In the letter from the Sindh government, it was said that transparent and peaceful elections will not be possible if the required number of security personnel is not available and the Chief Secretary and IG informed about the non-availability of security personnel.
