Speakers urge world to take notice of grave situation in occupied Kashmir

MUZAFFARABAD: Azad Kashmir’s Secretary of Education for Elementary and Secondary Schools, Razaq Ahmed Nadim, has stated that an organised campaign is underway to educate the new generation about the real perspective of the Kashmir issue and the sacrifices of the people of occupied Kashmir over the past 70 years. In the field of resistance, the biggest challenge for generations to come is to carry forward the struggle on the shoulders of nations.

Razaq Ahmed Nadim expressed these views while addressing a seminar — organised by Kashmir Women Alert Forum — titled ‘Kashmir in the Mirror of History and Current Situation and its Possible Solution’ at Boys Degree College, Muzaffarabad.

The event was presided over by Samia Sajid, Chairperson of Kashmir Women Alert Forum, while Dr Abdul Kareem, Principal Post Graduate College, Muzaffarabad, concluded the proceedings.

Razaq Ahmed Nadim, Deputy Commissioner Muzaffarabad Raja Tahir Mumtaz Khan and special guests participated along with guest speaker Director Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Commission Dr Raja Mohammad Sajjad Khan, and Lecturer Azad Jammu and Kashmir University Madiha Shakil.

The participants emphasised that the present condition of occupied Kashmir is extremely alarming and severe, where 900,000 Indian troops have added to the violations of human rights. Modi’s government’s actions have expanded extremist ambitions and efforts to change the existing situation and restrict the livelihood of Muslims in India are ongoing.

It was noted that it is essential for the international community to take notice of the grave situation in occupied Kashmir and play a role in curbing Indian atrocities. If Indian terrorism is not stopped, it can endanger the peace of the region.

KWAF Chairperson Samia Sajid thanked all the participants and said that the purpose of the forum is to enlighten the new generation with history and make them aware of the Kashmir issue.

She stated that social organisations, women, and educators are responsible for keeping the new generation connected with history, the legal foundations of the Kashmir issue, and the sacrifices of Kashmiri Muslims.

She stressed that the nations that turn away from their history also lose their geography. Therefore, it is necessary to keep the new generation connected with history.

It was mentioned that the situation in occupied Kashmir is distressing, where the Indian government has turned the lives of Kashmiris into a torment, and fundamental human rights have been violated. Kashmiris are being martyred by the Indian government on a daily basis. Modi’s government has confined Kashmiris to jails and placed more people under surveillance than they can count.

The speakers emphasised that now is the time for the global fraternity to take note of the grave situation in occupied Kashmir and play a role in stopping Indian atrocities. If Indian terrorism is not stopped, it can jeopardise the peace of the region.

At the end of the program, questions were asked in a Q&A session, where students from matric, FA, and university classes participated.

The event was attended by prominent personalities, including Ghazala Noreen Kazmi of Pakistan Peoples Party, President of Muslim Women’s Conference Abbida Munir Qureshi, General Secretary Mariam Mobsher Jehandad, PPP leader Nasim Mir, journalist Ijaz Kazmi, Haroon Azad, and members of the executive council of the Muslim Conference.

At the conclusion, special prayers were offered for the freedom of Kashmir, the martyrs of Palestine, and the stability of the country.
