State should stop incidents of harassment against women, President Alvi

Islamabad: President Dr. Arif Alvi has said that it is the duty of the state to prevent incidents of harassment against women.

Two officials of Peshawar have been sentenced to “dismissal from service” and fined Rs 5 lac rupees. The chief financial officer and project director of the organization were convicted of sexual harassment.

On this occasion, the President of the country, Dr. Arif Alvi, has said in a statement that such people tarnish not only their institution but also the image of the country.

He said that such incidents are the main reason why women hesitate to work and it is the duty of the state to prevent incidents of harassment against women.

Dr. Arif Alvi said that only a few cases of sexual harassment are reported in Pakistan, but the appeal of the accused against the decision of the Federal Ombudsman for Anti-Harassment is rejected.
