ٰIslamabad: PTI leader Senator Azam Khan Swati approached the High Court for post-arrest bail.

According to Leading News, Senator Azam Swati, who was arrested in the controversial tweet case, has filed a post-arrest bail application in the Islamabad High Court, in which the Federation, FIA Cybercrime and officer Anisur Rahman have been made parties.

It has been contended in the petition that the alleged tweets were not posted. Azam Swati had no intention of defaming any institution. Even after the completion of the investigation, the prosecution has no evidence against Azam Swati. The petitioner is 75 years old and suffering from heart disease. All cases are based on documented allegations, imprisonment will be tantamount to conviction before trial.

In the petition filed through the mediation of Dr. Babar Awan, the court has been requested to grant post-arrest bail till the trial is completed.

It should be noted that the Special Judge Central had rejected Azam Swati’s bail plea. The court while giving the order to dismiss the bail application said that Azam Swati has committed the same crime twice.
