Rawalpindi: In a meticulously planned intelligence-based operation (IBO), security forces successfully eliminated at least ten terrorists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Dera Ismail Khan district, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The operation was launched following credible intelligence regarding the presence of terrorists in the area. The ISPR statement detailed that security personnel surrounded the hideout with precision and engaged the terrorists in a fierce gunfight, ultimately neutralizing all ten.
Tragically, Captain Hasnain Akhtar, who was leading the operation with exceptional bravery, made the ultimate sacrifice and embraced martyrdom. The 24-year-old officer hailed from Jhelum district and had a distinguished record of valor and leadership in previous operations.
Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the neutralized terrorists, who had been actively involved in orchestrating attacks against law enforcement agencies and targeting innocent civilians. A thorough sanitization operation is now underway to clear the area of any remaining threats.
The ISPR reiterated the unwavering commitment of Pakistan’s security forces to eradicating terrorism, emphasizing that the sacrifices of the nation’s brave soldiers only strengthen their determination to secure peace.
In recent months, Pakistan has witnessed a surge in terrorist activities, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, following the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan in 2021.
