RAWALPINDI: Security forces carried out an intelligence-based operation in Panjgur district of Balochistan on reported presence of militants linked to Indian proxy group Fitna al Hindustan, the military’s media wing said on Sunday.
According to officials, troops effectively engaged the militants’ hideout during the operation. After an intense exchange of fire, three Indian-sponsored militants were killed. Those killed were identified as local area commander Farooq, also known as Soro, along with Adeel and Waseem.
Weapons, ammunition and explosives were recovered from the militants, who were said to be actively involved in multiple terrorist activities in the area.
Security officials said sanitisation operations are underway to eliminate any other militants present in the vicinity.
The military said the counterterrorism campaign under the vision of “Azm-e-Istehkam,” approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, will continue at full pace to eliminate the threat of foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country.
