UAE president to pay first official visit to Pakistan on Dec 26

UAE president will hold important meeting with PM Shehbaz to review entire spectrum of bilateral ties, says FO

ISLAMABAD: United Arab Emirates President and Ruler of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan will undertake an official visit to Pakistan on December 26, the Foreign Office said on Tuesday.

Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said this would be Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed’s first visit to Pakistan since assuming office as president of the UAE.

During the visit, the UAE president will meet Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, with the two leaders expected to review the full spectrum of bilateral relations and exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.

The spokesperson said Pakistan and the UAE share longstanding brotherly relations, marked by strong political, economic and cultural cooperation. He added that the visit would provide an important opportunity to further strengthen these ties.

According to the Foreign Office, the visit reflects the depth of bilateral relations between Pakistan and the UAE and the shared commitment of both sides to enhance collaboration in key areas, including trade, investment, energy, development and regional stability.

The spokesperson said Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed is visiting Pakistan at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Meanwhile, a local holiday has been announced in Islamabad on Friday in view of the UAE president’s arrival. Additional District Magistrate Sahibzada Muhammad Yousaf issued a notification declaring a public holiday in the federal capital, while clarifying that offices providing essential services will remain open.
