Lahore: A female student from a government university in Lahore has allegedly been gang-raped and filmed by three men, police reported on Tuesday.
According to the police, the victim, an MPhil student, was befriended by one of the suspects through a social networking app. The suspect invited her to a location in Muslim Town under the pretext of discussing marriage.
Upon arriving at the location, the suspect took the victim to a private housing society for breakfast. It was there that the suspect, along with two of his friends, sexually assaulted the student and filmed the incident.
The first information report (FIR) stated that the suspects also took two cheques from the victim’s sister’s chequebook, which she had in her handbag. The suspects threatened to upload the videos on social media if the victim disclosed the incident to anyone.
The police have registered an FIR based on the victim’s account and have launched an investigation into the incident. Police officials have vowed to arrest the suspects soon.
Another Rape Case Reported in Mardan
In a related incident, Mardan police registered a case of rape against five employees of a government-run hospital and arrested one accused, according to a report by a newspaper.
Sources revealed that a 32-year-old woman from Dubai Adda visited the hospital for treatment. It is alleged that five hospital employees, including two identified suspects, Aziz and Zakir, raped her. The identification of the other accused is ongoing.
The victim recorded her statement under Section 164 in the court of a judicial magistrate.
Both incidents have sparked outrage and calls for swift justice as authorities continue their investigations.
