A United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) assessment mission visited the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Headquarters to evaluate the agency’s operational, legal, and technical capabilities, with a particular focus on its information and communication technologies (ICT) systems.
During the visit, Additional Director General Immigration Muhammad Jafer and Additional Director General AML Akbar Nasir Khan briefed the delegation on FIA’s ongoing initiatives aimed at countering cyber-enabled organized crimes across Pakistan. They outlined key projects and processes designed to strengthen investigative capacity and improve interdepartmental coordination.

Specialized briefings were also delivered by Director Law Masood Naseem, Director AML Khurram Saeed Rana, and Deputy Director AHS Qamar Zaman, who discussed the agency’s broader legal and operational frameworks.
As part of the assessment, the UNODC mission toured the FIA’s Directorate of Forensic Lab and the Counter Terrorism Wing (CTW), reviewing the tools and methodologies used in forensic analysis and counterterrorism operations.
The delegation praised FIA’s continued efforts to combat organized crime, particularly human smuggling, and expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening its law enforcement capabilities in line with international standards.
