Zakria condemns India for framing fake charges against Yasin Malik

Staff Report
DURBAN: Yasin Malik is one of the true freedom fighters of Kashmir and India have framed fake charges against him just to silence another voice of the Kashmiris.
These views were expressed by Mian Muhammad Zakria, the chairman of the Pakistan Southern Africa Association’s Kashmir Committee, in an interview here.
He paid glowing tributes to Yasin Malik and other Kashmiri freedom fighters, terming them “the shining stars of Tehreek-e-Azadi Kashmir”.
India has charged Kashmiri Hurriyat leader Yasin Malik with ‘terrorist acts’, illegally raising funds, being a member of a ‘terrorist’ organisation and criminal conspiracy and sedition. The charges carry a maximum sentence of death penalty or life imprisonment. The Indian court has set May 25 as the date for the sentencing.
Condemning this latest criminal step by India, Mian Muhammad Zakria, who is a political and social figure based in South Africa, said Yasin Malik has led a peaceful struggle for freedom and his name will be written in gold in history. “India’s name, on the other hand, will be found in the history’s dustbin,” he said.
Jammu and Kashmir’s leadership is being assassinated by India in the name of such ‘treason cases’ which are totally fabricated, Mian Muhammad Zakria said.
He said Yasin Malik has never yielded to pressure and was confident the JKLF leader will not bow to pressure even now.
He added that the international community and human rights organisations must take a strong stance against this decision by India.
“Why are those who talk about animal rights silent about the blood of my Kashmir?” he asked.
Mian Muhammad Zakria concluded by saying that we salute Yasin Malik and will always stand by him.
