1 dead, 3 unconscious as fire erupts in building near Karachi’s generator market

Karachi: A fire broke out in a multi-storied building in New Chali’s Generator Market, which was brought under control by the fire brigade after several hours of struggle.

As a result of the fire, one person died while three people became unconscious. During this time, 43 people including women were rescued. 10 fire tenders, two fire snorkels and two bowser tankers took part in extinguishing the fire. The unconscious ones were shifted to a nearby hospital for medical attention.

During the fire brigade’s efforts to put out the fire, neighboring buildings were also evacuated due to fear of the fire spreading. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, but according to initial reports, the cause of the fire is short circuit. According to eyewitnesses, the smoke coming from the burning building could be seen from several kilometers away.

At the time of the fire, many people were trapped in the building. The burnt body of the person who died in the incident was found, identified as 46-year-old Ali Asghar son of Burhanuddin. The deceased person worked in the same building. According to the fire brigade officials, the cooling process is going on in the building after the fire was brought under control.
