Cross-Border Social Media Drive Targets IHC Chief Justice

Islamabad: Legal analysts have drawn attention to a burgeoning international social media campaign aimed at Islamabad High Court’s Chief Justice Aamer Farooq. Beyond Pakistan’s borders, this campaign has gained significant momentum, reaching countries including the United States, Canada, and Britain. Legal experts have highlighted that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party is also actively engaged in this effort against CJ IHC.

The campaign’s coordination is evident through the utilization of contentious hashtags, as emphasized by legal pundits. Moreover, legal experts have noted the integration of diverse content, including posters and videos, into the social media drive.

Renowned legal authority Qausain Faisal Mufti has recommended that PTI leadership counsel its members to desist from participating in the campaign against Chief Justice Aamer Farooq.

This development comes on the heels of PTI Chairman’s declaration in July, expressing a lack of confidence in Chief Justice Aamer Farooq. The Chairman’s accusations, which revolve around perceived biases, have intensified the ongoing debate surrounding the independence of the judiciary.
