DUBAI: Mohammad Nafees, the UAE-born 14-year-old Sri Lankan all-rounder, has displayed brilliant performances in the ongoing ICCA International Academy Tournament in Sri Lanka.
Representing Desert Cubs UAE, Nafees has transformed into a formidable all-rounder.
He achieved his career-best score of 214 against Ramah Academy Zimbabwe. Additionally, he claimed a career-best six-wicket haul against the same team in the ongoing ICCA International Academy Tournament held in Sri Lanka.
Nafees has emerged as the highest run-scorer in the tournament, accumulating 462 runs in seven games. He delivered a spectacular double century at Thurstan Ground, along with another century against Ramah Academy in the first round. His consistent performance includes a brilliant half-century as well.
Over the course of seven games, he maintains an impressive average of 66.00, boasting a strike rate of 120.00.
Moreover, his prowess extends to the bowling department, having captured 10 wickets, with the best figures being six wickets against Ramah Academy Zimbabwe.
Nafees expressed his gratitude to coach KG Priyantha, a former Sri Lankan first-class and junior international player, for honing his skills as a fast bowler and thanked coach Hashan for refining his batting technique.
