SHARJAH: Establishing himself as a formidable presence on the cricket field, Sailesh Sankaran’s exceptional display in the 4 Nations Tournament (2024) has solidified his status as a powerful bowler.
Sailesh demonstrated exemplary bowling in a league match of the tournament on March 23, taking an impressive 6 wickets in just 3 overs. Additionally, he conceded only 4 runs, achieving a superb economy rate of 1.33.
Off-spinner Sailesh has carved a name for himself as a bowler known for maintaining low economies, making him a crucial asset for his team in tight situations. Having started playing at the age of 9, he has amassed a total of 214 wickets with an economy rate of 3.97 in 219 official matches.
Under the guidance of his coach Abbas Kaunain and mentor Shahzad Altaf, he continues to display consistent growth and serve as a pillar for his team on the bowling end.
Notably, in the past year, the 15-year-old also secured a hat-trick against The Sports School (TSS) Under 19 team in Bangalore. Furthermore, in 2021, in a CBFS Qualifiers Tournament Under-13 match, he delivered an outstanding performance by bowling 4 overs in a match without giving a single run while also claiming one wicket, further highlighting his exceptional ability as an economical bowler.
Currently studying at GEMS Millennium, Sharjah, Sailesh has occasionally represented the school team in the past. He was also a vital part of the champion team in the Under-16 National Academy League 23/24, providing strong support to his teammates on the bowling front.
Sailesh consistently demonstrates his ability to unsettle batsmen and provides unwavering support to his teammates, fueling anticipation for his future performances.
