Prague to host launch of Dan Brown’s latest novel

PRAGUE: The Czech capital is set to take centre stage in the literary world with the global release of Dan Brown’s new novel The Secret of Secrets, scheduled for Tuesday, September 9.

The launch, jointly organised by Prague City Tourism and Argo Publishing, will take place at a special bookstore on the ground floor of the Old Town Hall at 7am, coinciding with the book’s English-language release in New York. The first 100 customers will receive signed copies, while receipts from all purchases will be entered into a draw for complimentary tickets to Brown’s live show on September 18 at the Great Hall of Lucerna.

The event will feature a performance by the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra FOK, along with appearances by editor Petr Onufer and translator Michala Marková.

This is the first time Prague has been chosen as the backdrop of a Dan Brown novel — a development that local tourism officials described as a unique opportunity to promote the city to international readers. “We are thrilled to see Prague featured in Dan Brown’s storytelling,” said František Cipro, Chairman of the Board of Prague City Tourism, adding that thematic walks and experiences will be organised to link the book’s narrative with real locations across the city.

Alongside the print edition, an e-book and audiobook narrated by Aleš Procházka will also be released.

In connection with the launch, Prague City Tourism has announced a new guided experience titled Prague of Dan Brown, beginning on September 12. Conducted in English by certified guides, the walking tour will lead visitors through the city’s historic landmarks — including the Astronomical Clock and Old Town — while combining historical facts with the symbolic and mysterious themes associated with Brown’s work.

“This tour is more than just a walk through Prague — it’s a journey into the heart of the city’s mysteries,” a spokesperson for Prague City Tourism said.

Details of the tour are available at prague.eu.
