After negotiations, sit-in of govt employees ended

Islamabad: Negotiations between the civil servants protesting outside the Parliament House and the government succeeded to some extent after which the protestors announced to postpone the dharna for two days.

Civil servants staged a sit-in outside the Parliament House and raised slogans for their right to an increase in salaries and allowances.

When the federal ministers received information about the sit-in of government employees outside the Parliament House, a three-member negotiation committee headed by Federal Minister Ayaz Sadiq was established by the government, which assured to listen to the demands of the protestors and resolve them.

Rehman Bajwa represented the government employees and said that the negotiations with the government have been successful, but we are waiting for the notice for which we are giving two days to the government.

He said that they are postponing the dharna for two days to wait for the notice, all the organizations have taken a unanimous decision to postpone the dharna for two days, they will announce the future action plan after talking to the federal ministers on Thursday. If our demands are not accepted, we will stage a sit-in.

Meanwhile, Federal Minister Ayaz Sadiq reached the protest of government employees and while talking to the media said that DIG and Deputy Commissioner brought the protestors to me, they explained to me, two ministries are involved in this matter, one is Finance and The other is the establishment ministry.

He said that I have directed the finance secretary to listen to the demands of government employees and then make recommendations. The situation is difficult but you will take the best decision for us government employees.

The Federal Minister further said that there will be a meeting with Rehman Bajwa in the Establishment Division tomorrow at half past one.
