ISLAMABAD: The meeting of the National Policy Decisions Committee chaired by Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Banidal was held on Saturday.
According to sources, the meeting was attended by various judicial officials including Chief Justice of Federal Shariat Court Justice Iqbal Hameed ur Rehman and chief justices of all four provincial high courts. The meeting was also attended by the inspectors general of the provincial police departments and the prosecutors general of the provinces.
According to the sources, during the meeting, Judge Bandial instructed the courts to take the necessary steps to settle the cases in a timely manner. He categorically advised against the initiation of fabricated and deceptive litigation.
Meanwhile, the top judge directed the courts to consider substitute mechanisms for adjudication as a way to reduce their backlog. He emphasised the incorporation of information technology in the judiciary.
During the session, Bandial firmly stressed the need for training and capacity-building of inspection officers and prosecutors.
“To expedite the disposal of pending cases, the charge-sheets should be submitted in courts immediately.” the top judge said.
