AJMAN: Desert Cubs Cricket Academy defeated Tellycherry Cricket Academy by nine wickets in the final to be crowned the U15 champions in the Lions Sports 4 Nations 2023 cricket tournament.
The tournament was organised by the YTCA Goltay at the MCC 2 Cricket Ground here.
Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Tellycherry Cricket Academy were bowled out for 95 in 24.2 overs. Zayd S Ahmed (20), Daksh Parnani (19) and Parthiv Vinod (13) were their main run-getters.
Saaketh Nodu Sudhir, Nemika Sithum Benthota and Mohammad Ibrahim were the pick of Desert Cubs bowlers, claiming two wickets each for two, 12 and 18 runs, respectively.
Desert Cubs Cricket Academy achieved the winning target in 15.4 overs with nine wickets in hand.
Sarang Anilkumar was the only wicket to fall but not before becoming the highest scorer in the final. He contributed 35 runs which came off 29 balls and included five boundaries.
Mohamed Nafees and Arjun Gadoya remained not out on 30 and 25, respectively.
Keshav Rastogi (1-17) was the lone wicket-taker for Tellycherry Cricket Academy.
Mohamed Nafees of Desert Cubs Cricket Academy was declared the Player of the Final while Ayaan Misbah won the Player of the Tournament award.
