DUBAI: Dubai Police, represented by the General Department of Logistic Support, the Positive Spirit Initiative and Al Murqqabat Police Station, recently concluded the Ramadan Football Championship for Communities.
As many as 10 teams participated in the tournament held at Abu Hail Park. The event was organised in collaboration with strategic partners, including Dubai Sports Council, Dubai Municipality – Dubai Parks, and various supporting organisations.
Major General Ali Ghanem, Director of the General Department for Logistic Support and Director of Al Murqqabat Police Station, delivered a speech in the presence of Colonel Khalifa Ali Rashed, Deputy Director of Al Murqqabat Police Station, Mr. Moataz Billa Sharif of the Dubai Sports Council, Mr. Hussein Al-Saffar of Dubai Municipality – Dubai Parks, and representatives of supporting organisations.
He emphasised that the championship aimed to foster communication between Dubai Police and community members, promoting sports as a way of life and a healthy lifestyle for all individuals.
“This aligns with Dubai Police’s strategic goals of ensuring community happiness and reinforcing the values promoted by the Positive Spirit Initiative, such as tolerance, coexistence, cultural acceptance, quality of life enhancement, and social harmony,” Maj. Gen. Ghanem said.
Maj. Gen. Ghanem, accompanied by Colonel Khalifa Ali Rashed, honoured the winning team ‘Misr Al-Hadara’ with gold medals. Second placed team ‘Misr Al-Harifa’ received silver medals, followed by ‘Mass Al-Sharjah’ who earned bronze medals.
In addition, Maj. Gen. Ghanem awarded Mr. Ahmed Hussein, a representative of the ‘Al-Wahda Al-Arabiya’ team, with the Positive Spirit prize. The best player, best goalkeeper, top scorer, best coach, best administrator, and best commentator of the championship were also honoured.
At the conclusion of the championship, Maj. Gen. Ghanem expressed his gratitude to the partners and supporting organisations, including Dubai Sports Council, Dubai Municipality – Dubai Parks, Eshraqa Engineering and Environmental Consultancy, DMA Kirla, and Grand Storesa, for their contributions to the event’s success.
