ECP Appoints Presiding Officers for Presidential Election

Islamabad: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has taken a significant step forward in the preparations for the upcoming Presidential Election by appointing five Presiding Officers to oversee the electoral process in key locations across the country.

According to the announcement made by the ECP spokesperson, these appointed officers will play pivotal roles in facilitating the presidential election process, including receiving nomination papers from candidates and presiding over meetings of the Majlis-e-Shoora (Parliament) during the scheduled polling.

The notification revealed the distribution of responsibilities among the appointed officers as follows:

  • The Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court will oversee the elections in the Senate and National Assembly in Islamabad.
  • A Member of the Election Commission-I, Election Commission of Pakistan, will supervise polling in the Provincial Assembly of Punjab, located in Lahore.
  • The Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court will supervise the Presidential Elections in the Provincial Assembly of Sindh, situated in Karachi.
  • Similarly, the Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court will supervise the polls in the Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, located in Peshawar.
  • Lastly, the Chief Justice of the Balochistan High Court will conduct the presidential polls in the Provincial Assembly in Quetta.

These appointments underscore the ECP’s commitment to ensuring a transparent and fair electoral process for the presidential election. By delegating supervisory roles to respected judicial authorities, the ECP aims to uphold the integrity of the electoral process and facilitate a smooth transition of power.

With the designated Presiding Officers in place, the stage is set for a structured and orderly conduct of the Presidential Election, reinforcing Pakistan’s democratic principles and institutional frameworks.
