GDRFA Dubai Delegation Visits Singapore to Enhance Smart Border Management

Visit focuses on AI-driven systems and best practices to strengthen Dubai’s border security and passenger experience.

DUBAI: A formal delegation from the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs – Dubai (GDRFA Dubai) visited the Republic of Singapore as part of efforts to enhance Dubai’s border management readiness and operational efficiency in line with the Emirate’s vision of comprehensive digital transformation and artificial intelligence integration.

The delegation was led by Major General Obaid Muhair bin Suroor, Deputy Director General of GDRFA Dubai, and included Brigadier Waleed Ahmed, Deputy Assistant Director General for the Air Ports Services Sector, and Expert Colonel Khalid bin Midia Al Falasi, Assistant Director General for the Digital Services Sector, along with several specialized officers.

During the visit, the delegation toured key facilities in smart port management and security inspection, including Pasir Panjang Scanning Station, Woodlands Checkpoint, and Changi International Airport. Officials reviewed the operational systems and advanced models that utilize automation and artificial intelligence to enhance border security and streamline passenger flow.

The visit provided valuable insights into international best practices in border security, proactive risk analysis, and inter-agency system integration. Delegates also explored innovative mechanisms to expedite travel procedures and improve the passenger experience.

Major General Obaid Muhair bin Suroor said the visit reflected GDRFA Dubai’s ongoing commitment to adopting global best practices and translating them into innovative projects that strengthen Dubai’s leadership in border management.

 

“At GDRFA Dubai, we believe that anticipating the future begins with building knowledge and transferring expertise,” he said. “The Singapore experience serves as an inspiring model, and we will continue developing our own approach that combines advanced technology with a human-centered philosophy in port management.”

He added that border security is achieved through an integrated ecosystem of national talents and advanced systems, ensuring Dubai’s leadership in digital security and seamless travel.

The delegation reaffirmed GDRFA Dubai’s commitment to enhancing the Emirate’s global competitiveness in port management and delivering proactive, innovative services that support Dubai’s vision for a smarter, safer, and more sustainable future.
