DUBAI: The General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs – Dubai (GDRFA Dubai) has launched the “Summer Without Risks” initiative to raise awareness about the health risks associated with direct exposure to sunlight and high temperatures and promote preventive practices among workers across the emirate.
Launched on June 16, 2026, the initiative was implemented over several weeks in areas with high concentrations of workers, including Muhaisnah, Al Mankhool, Al Jaddaf, Al Qusais and Al Muraqqabat. Activities were also conducted in two phases in Muhaisnah to extend the initiative’s reach to workers in different locations.
The campaign included awareness lectures, educational sessions and on-site health screenings focusing on heat stress, prolonged exposure to sunlight and preventive measures for working safely in hot weather.
According to GDRFA Dubai, the initiative resulted in 8,350 on-site health screenings, supported by around 28 specialised healthcare professionals. Awareness messages and preventive guidance were delivered in multiple languages to ensure workers could understand and follow the recommended safety practices.
Major General Obaid Muhair bin Suroor, Deputy Director General of GDRFA Dubai and Chairman of the Permanent Committee for Labour Affairs in Dubai, said protecting workers’ health and safety was a shared responsibility requiring cooperation between government institutions, the private sector and healthcare providers.
He said the initiative combined awareness with on-site preventive healthcare, allowing workers to access health screenings and safety guidance at their workplaces.
“Worker safety begins with awareness and is strengthened by ensuring that preventive healthcare reaches workers where they are,” he said, adding that the initiative aimed to reduce the risks associated with high temperatures and promote practices that protect workers’ health and safety.
The initiative was implemented in collaboration with Drydocks World – Dubai, Grand Infinity Healthcare Group and Aster DM Healthcare, bringing together institutional and medical expertise to provide preventive healthcare and workplace awareness services.
GDRFA Dubai said the “Summer Without Risks” initiative forms part of broader efforts to improve the quality of life for workers, strengthen occupational health awareness and make preventive safety practices an integral part of everyday workplace routines.
The initiative also reflects Dubai’s wider focus on coordinated action between government bodies, healthcare institutions and the private sector to create safer and healthier working environments across the emirate.
