Former Prime Minister Imran Khan, currently incarcerated, made startling allegations during a hearing at Rawalpindi’s Adiala jail. Khan informed the accountability court judge that his wife and ex-first lady, Bushra Bibi, was poisoned while in detention at the Bani Gala sub-jail.
He described marks on Bushra Bibi’s skin and tongue as evidence of poisoning and demanded a thorough medical checkup. Khan asserted his knowledge of the perpetrators behind the alleged poisoning.
Seeking transparency, Khan requested that Dr. Asim Yunus from Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre conduct the medical examination. The court instructed Khan to submit a written application for the examination.
This claim follows previous concerns raised by PTI over Bushra Bibi’s health deteriorating due to substandard food during her house arrest at Bani Gala sub-jail. PTI Women Wing President Kanwal Shauzab had highlighted Bushra’s health issues, including mouth ulcers.
Bushra Bibi, while interacting with journalists, disclosed disturbing details alleging that toilet cleaner was mixed into her food. She described experiencing chest and stomach pain, along with swollen eyes, after consuming the tainted food. Despite refusing to name the perpetrator, she emphasized the severity of the situation and insisted on open windows at Bani Gala for better ventilation.
