Lahore: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan has decided not to participate in the by-elections for the vacant seats of the National Assembly in view of the current situation.
According to the sources, in the meeting of PTI leaders presided over by Imran Khan, after considering the current situation, it has been decided that former members of the assembly will contest in the by-elections to be held on 33 seats of the National Assembly.
Imran Khan has also instructed the former members to campaign in their constituencies and participate in the elections.
The Election Commission has released the schedule of by-elections on March 16 for the 33 vacant seats of the National Assembly after the resignations of PTI members were accepted. He will be the candidate of PTI, however, possibly due to submission of written reply on daughter’s issue in Islamabad High Court, Chairman PTI has withdrawn the decision.
