India not victim but sponsor of terrorism, says DG ISPR

Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif on Friday firmly rejected Indian allegations linking Pakistan to the recent Pahalgam attack in Indian-administered Kashmir, calling them “baseless, politically motivated, and devoid of credible evidence.”

Addressing an important press briefing alongside senior officers from the Pakistan Air Force and Navy, Gen Sharif denounced what he described as a “false narrative” being promoted by New Delhi.

“India blamed Pakistan for the Pahalgam incident without presenting a shred of evidence,” Gen Sharif said. “Terrorism happens in Pakistan almost daily — and the country responsible for fuelling it dares to present itself as the victim.”

Highlighting the logistical inconsistencies in India’s claims, he pointed out that the attack site is 230 km from the Line of Control and located just over a kilometer from a local police station. “The Indian FIR suggests the attackers infiltrated across the border and executed the entire operation in under 10 minutes — a claim that defies logic given the geography,” he said.

Gen Sharif also drew attention to how Indian TV channels and social media accounts began blaming Pakistan mere minutes after the incident, despite the absence of any verified details. “This preemptive media narrative clearly shows the script was prepared in advance,” he said.

To counter India’s claims, the ISPR chief played video clips of local Kashmiri civilians questioning the official version of events. One resident cited the heavy Indian military presence in the area and asked how such an attack could take place unnoticed. “This raises serious doubts. If it’s that heavily monitored, how could anyone escape notice?” the civilian asked.

Calling the incident a “drama” designed to justify future military actions, Gen Sharif said: “This is not the first time India has used false flag operations to escalate tensions. We will not be intimidated.”

He reiterated Pakistan’s readiness to cooperate with an impartial, international investigation into the matter. “Let facts speak for themselves. Who gave India the right to act as judge, jury, and executioner?” he said.

DG ISPR Gen Sharif also condemned India’s broader human rights record, particularly in relation to Kashmiris, Muslims, and other minorities. “Indian forces routinely detain and torture civilians who cross the border unintentionally, only to later label them as terrorists,” he added.

“Such fabrications and military provocations must stop. Pakistan remains committed to peace, transparency, and regional stability — but we will resolutely defend our sovereignty,” he concluded.
