Rawalpindi: Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian engaged in a crucial meeting with Pakistan Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir at the General Headquarters (GHQ) as part of his two-day official visit to Pakistan. The meeting focused on strengthening the historical, religious, and cultural ties between the neighboring nations.
According to a press release by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), both leaders underscored the importance of comprehending and addressing each other’s concerns, particularly in light of recent missile strikes that heightened tensions along the border.
The ISPR highlighted discussions on the regional security situation and strategies to enhance cooperation in the fight against terrorism. Both leaders expressed a commitment to maintaining close contact to prevent any disruption in the brotherly relations between the two countries.
Emphasizing their fraternal neighbor status, they recognized the interconnected fate of Pakistan and Iran. Addressing terrorism as a common threat, the leaders stressed the need for mutual cooperation, improved coordination, and intelligence sharing.
General Munir emphasized the importance of sustainable engagement and leveraging available communication means to eliminate security risks. Both sides agreed to activate the deployment of military liaison officers in each other’s country promptly, aiming to enhance contact and response efficiency against joint threats.
