THE International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) Global Region 2 (Regional Director: Seo-yeon Lee) conducted an online orientation and sessions 1-3 of the Peace Lecturer Training Education (PLTE) in December, targeting Middle Eastern countries.
The training, conducted in Arabic, was attended by approximately 70 participants, including Dr. Faeza Abdel-Raqeeb Salam, Deputy Minister of the Yemeni Ministry of Culture; Hoda Al Sayed, Director General of the Yemeni Ministry of Interior; Naglaa Saad, President of the Yemeni Rural Development Foundation; Amira Jamal, President of the Jordanian Our Step Association; Huda Rifed Ahmed, Project Manager at the Baghdad Women Association; and Dalia Abdel Razzaq Harbi, Team Manager of the Syrian Ashreq Volunteer Team.
PLTE is a professional training program aimed at fostering peace lecturers who teach the spirit of peace, unite women globally through peace, and instill the importance of peace. Women peace lecturers trained through the program actively spread peace in their communities and lead efforts to transform the world.
Dr. Faeza Abdel-Raqeeb Salam, Deputy Minister of Culture, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to participate in PLTE, saying, “I am grateful to take part in PLTE. Through this education, we can spread peace, beginning with ourselves, to others, our communities, and the global village. By translating positive mindsets such as respect, tolerance, harmony, cooperation, love, and acceptance into actions, we can gain the wisdom needed to solve surrounding issues.”
Hoda Al Sayed, Director General of the Ministry of Interior, emphasised the significance of the program, stating, “PLTE is extremely important for women in the Middle East who earnestly desire peace. It is something that women worldwide should hear and learn. This training enhances internal awareness and broadens understanding of the importance of peace. Let us not miss this opportunity and continue participating until the end.”
Amira Jamal, President of the Our Step Association, expressed appreciation for IWPG’s efforts, saying, “I am grateful for IWPG’s efforts to spread peace in an era filled with wars and conflicts, and I look forward to the next session.”
IWPG Global Region 2 plans to continue conducting PLTE in collaboration with many partner countries.
Any adult woman who loves peace and wishes to spread the culture of peace can apply to join PLTE as an IWPG member. The program consists of 10 sessions, and participants who diligently complete the training will be awarded a certification, enabling them to act as peace lecturers.
