IWPG Hosts Peace Culture Forum with Yemeni Women Leaders

The International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) Global Region 2 (Regional director SeoYeon Lee) held a welcoming meeting for new members on November 29 to establish plans for peace cooperation with Yemen.

Attendees at the meeting included Hamama Othman Ahmed Qasim Al-Sanawi, Director General of the Women’s Affairs Department in the Office of the Presidency of the Republic of Yemen; Faeza Abdel Raqeeb Salam, Deputy Minister of Culture; Ahlam Abdul Raqib Salam, Permanent Director of the Sawashiya Development Justice Foundation; and Huda Rifed Ahmed, Project Manager of the Baghdad Women Association.

The meeting consisted of an introduction to IWPG and its peace activities, introductions of cooperating organizations and stakeholders, and the viewing of videos about the 2024 International Women’s Peace Conference and the World Peace Summit. Participants shared the current status of IWPG’s peace activities unfolding in various countries, explored practical methods for achieving world peace through ongoing action and efforts, and discussed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for continued exchange and peace collaboration between IWPG and Yemen.

Faeza Abdel Raqeeb Salam, Deputy Minister of Culture, stated, “It is an honor to learn about IWPG’s beautiful global peace activities,” and promised to actively support the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW), introduce Peace Lecturer Training Education (PLTE), and establish a community for smooth communication to actively cooperate in peace activities.

Meanwhile, IWPG is a global women’s NGO registered with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and the Department of Global Communications (DGC). It operates 114 branches in 122 countries with 730 cooperating organizations in 66 countries. With the vision of achieving “sustainable world peace,” IWPG actively promotes the expansion of necessary solidarity, the dissemination of a culture of peace, women’s peace education, and the support and advocacy for the legislation of the DPCW.
