The International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG), Global Region 2, has agreed to co-host an NGO Parallel Event with Lebanon-based Every Woman Treaty (EWT) during the 70th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (UN CSW70).
According to IWPG, the decision was made during a coordination meeting held on the 18th, led by Regional Director Seo Yeon Lee. The consultation focused on enhancing international cooperation to promote women’s rights and strengthen global peace efforts through joint participation in UN CSW70.
EWT is a global coalition comprising around 4,000 women’s rights activists and organizations from 165 countries. The group advocates for ending violence against women and girls and is working toward the establishment of a legally binding international mechanism through a new Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW).

The theme of UN CSW70 is “Ensuring and Strengthening Access to Justice for All Women and Girls.” Discussions will focus on inclusive legal systems, reform of discriminatory laws and policies, dismantling structural barriers, expanding women’s participation in public life, and eliminating violence against women and girls.
During the meeting, EWT’s Chief of Global Diplomatic Campaign, Patricia Elias, stressed that lasting peace cannot be achieved without the participation of women, describing IWPG as a key partner in advancing meaningful change at the international level.
Seo Yeon Lee stated that UN CSW70 is a vital platform for global women’s organizations to align on common goals. She reiterated IWPG’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with international NGOs to improve women’s access to justice, increase public participation, and eliminate violence.
Following the consultation, IWPG announced plans to develop further co-hosting frameworks with major NGOs in Geneva, Vienna, and New York. The organization will also expand its global petition campaign in partnership with national and international members.
IWPG is a global women’s NGO headquartered in Seoul and registered with the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and the Department of Global Communications. With 115 branches in 122 countries and partnerships with over 800 organizations, IWPG continues its efforts to promote a culture of peace, provide women’s peace education and advocate for the “Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW).”
