Karachi Police Capture High-Profile BLA Terrorist in Lyari Raid

Karachi police have successfully captured a notorious militant linked to the outlawed Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) in the Lyari area of the city. Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) South, Asad Raza, confirmed the arrest of the “most wanted” terrorist, identified as Mairaj alias Mama, during a press briefing on Sunday.

According to  Karachi Police DIG Raza, Mairaj was a key operative within the BLA network, serving as a crucial informant for BLA commander Jalal. His involvement in several high-profile attacks against security forces and civilians has been revealed through intelligence gathering.

In 2017, Mairaj orchestrated a spying operation targeting an army convoy traveling from Turbat to Gwadar in Balochistan, leading to a deadly ambush resulting in the martyrdom of Pakistan Army personnel. Additionally, he was implicated in espionage activities targeting a military camp located within a school premises in Balochistan’s Naseerabad, which resulted in further casualties among security personnel.

The arrested militant’s role extended to facilitating targeted killings, including the assassination of four individuals, who were relatives of an intelligence agency officer. Moreover, Mairaj was involved in orchestrating a terrorist attack on the Gwadar Port during the holy month of Ramadan, resulting in the loss of several lives, including soldiers.

Furthermore, DIG Raza disclosed Mairaj’s involvement in a fatal assault on army soldiers in Nushki, highlighting the extent of his participation in destabilizing activities aimed at undermining security in Balochistan and beyond.
