Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia is set to launch a vibrant lineup of festivals, major events and retail experiences from the first week of May, positioning itself as a preferred destination for GCC travellers planning holidays around Eid ul Adha.
A major highlight of the season is Festival Kuala Lumpur 2026, which will run nationwide from May 6 to May 31, 2026.
The festival will feature an extensive programme of public art, concerts, music performances, community activities and creative showcases. More than 80 events will be held across 25 locations in Kuala Lumpur, offering visitors an opportunity to experience the country’s cultural diversity and creative energy.
Mohd Faharuddin Hatmin, Director of Tourism Malaysia Dubai, said the festival captures the spirit of Malaysia by bringing together creativity, culture and community.
“It transforms the city into a vibrant stage for visitors from the GCC to experience our warm hospitality and diverse traditions during the festive season,” he said.
Malaysia’s events calendar will continue through June with cultural celebrations, sporting competitions and lifestyle showcases across Kuala Lumpur and other regions.
Key events include the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show 2026 from June 12 to 21, alongside the Perak Multisport Festival featuring entertainment and cultural programmes highlighting Malaysia’s multicultural heritage.
The country will also launch the Malaysia Mega Sale 2026 from June 15 to July 31, 2026.
The nationwide shopping campaign will offer promotions, exclusive deals and lifestyle experiences across malls, boutiques and major retail districts.
Tourism Malaysia said GCC travellers value memorable shopping experiences, family-friendly attractions and seamless city experiences, adding that the festival and sale season are designed to combine culture, entertainment and value.
Officials said the initiatives aim to deepen visitor engagement by offering experiences centred around local customs, traditional performances and multicultural cuisine beyond conventional tourism.
