SHARJAH: Pakistani-UAE Media team emerged victorious over London Media team in a thrilling T20 cricket match played in Sharjah. The match was more than just a game — it was a symbol of resilience and compassion in the face of adversity.

Former Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar, Consul General of Pakistan Hussain Mohammed, esteemed political commentator Suhail Warraich and Pakistan Social Center Sharjah President Khalid Hussain Chaudhry graced the event, commending both teams for their outstanding performance and spirit of unity.
Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar expressed his pleasure at witnessing the cricket match with keen interest. In a lighthearted remark, he noted a shift in focus, observing that the media, usually preoccupied with chasing catchy headlines, were now engrossed in chasing a cricket ball and runs on the ground.
Chaudhry Sarwar extended an invitation to media representatives, emphasising that his office in Pakistan always keeps its doors open for dialogue and issue resolution.
Consul General Hussain Mohammad expressed gratitude to the media for dedicating the match to the rain victims, emphasising Pakistan’s unwavering support for its citizens affected by the rains.
He further mentioned that the Pakistan diplomatic mission’s commitment was further underscored by the establishment of a hotline and WhatsApp number by the Pakistan Consulate in Dubai, ensuring that assistance was readily available to those in need.
Pakistan’s well-known political commentator Suhail Warraich praised the Pakistani media for their dedication, highlighting their impressive work in a short time. He also lauded the media for their commitment to helping people affected by the rain, regardless of their background, religion, or nationality, in collaboration with the UAE authorities, which he found highly commendable.
President of Pakistan Social Center Sharjah Khalid Hussain Chaudhry commended the media for acknowledging those affected by the rains during the match, stating further that the extraordinary efforts of the UAE government to restore normalcy after the heavy downpour are also commendable.
At the Skyline Ground in Sharjah, representatives from the active Pakistani media donned cricket gear, while media personnel, known for covering events in the UAE, also took to the field, showcasing their cricketing skills.
Pakistani-UAE Media captain Raja Irfan Ahmed won the toss and elected to bat first.
They posted a formidable total of 244 for the loss of seven wickets. Irfan Afridi scored a remarkable 108 and was later adjudged man of the match. In reply, London Media put up a valiant effort, but fell short by 72 runs.
Pakistani-UAE Media team’s manager Syed Mudasir Khushnood explained that although the match was initially meant to foster friendship and collaboration, it became a symbol of solidarity with the rain-affected people of the UAE, especially in Sharjah.
He stressed that the friendly match was played with the determination to support all communities, especially the Pakistani community, and that the Pakistani media is dedicated to assisting them, along with people of all nationalities in Sharjah, particularly during this difficult period.
