Karachi: After the two-day meeting of the coordination committee of MQM Pakistan, it has unanimously decided not to contest the by-elections.
In this regard, Convenor Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui confirmed the decision. According to the sources, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had contacted MQM Pakistan on March 16 regarding the by-election on 9 National Assembly seats in Karachi.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had requested not to participate in the by-election in view of the country’s economic problems, however, the meeting of the MQM Liaison Committee was going on for two days in this regard.
In the meeting, all members of the Liaison Committee opined that the country is facing economic problems. According to the sources, the coordination committee said that contesting the election in these circumstances is not a correct action in any case.
