Nawaz Sharif Urges Political Unity for Pakistan’s Progress

Islamabad: In a recent address to members of his parliamentary party, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Nawaz Sharif emphasized the importance of prioritizing the nation’s interests over individual political ambitions. Expressing his readiness to collaborate with those sharing his vision of a prosperous and democratic Pakistan, Sharif urged all parties to engage in constructive politics while upholding the constitution and respecting the people’s mandate.

Reflecting on his efforts to bridge political divides following the 2013 election, Sharif recounted his gestures of goodwill towards rival parties, including visiting injured Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Imran Khan in the hospital and suspending his campaign to seek cooperation. Stressing the need to move past allegations of electoral rigging, Sharif emphasized the common challenges facing the nation and the importance of unity in addressing them.

Meanwhile, PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif criticized the president’s failure to call for an assembly session, citing it as a violation of constitutional duty. Accusing the president of yielding to the influence of Imran Khan Niazi, Shehbaz Sharif condemned what he deemed as a disregard for constitutional principles, recalling past instances of similar breaches.

Shehbaz Sharif also lauded Nawaz Sharif’s leadership, highlighting his achievements in steering Pakistan away from economic collapse and initiating developmental projects during his tenure. Expressing his support for Nawaz Sharif’s return to the prime ministerial role, Shehbaz Sharif pledged his loyalty to serve the country under his leadership.

The statements from both Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif underscore the ongoing political tensions in Pakistan, with calls for unity amidst constitutional concerns and aspirations for national progress.
