Islamabad: Pakistan and China have taken significant steps to enhance cooperation between their mainstream media outlets. This pivotal decision emerged following a meeting with a delegation of Chinese media, led by China’s Political Consellor Ms. Bao Zhong, and Pakistan’s Caretaker Federal Minister for Information, Murtaza Solangi, according to a press release issued on Saturday.
The collaborative efforts will emphasize the Pakistan China Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects through Pakistan Television (PTV), Radio Pakistan, and the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP). Both nations have also resolved to deepen practical cooperation in joint reporting and exchange of media delegations.
Minister for Information Murtaza Solangi expressed Pakistan’s strong appreciation for Chinese President Xi Jinping’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), characterizing it as a crucial endeavor aimed at promoting peace and prosperity through economic development.
Solangi stressed the indispensable role of media in raising public awareness about the pivotal nature of CPEC and the enduring friendship with China in fostering economic growth. He further highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening ties and cooperation with China in various domains, particularly in the new phase of high-quality development within the CPEC framework.
The minister reiterated Pakistan’s keen interest in learning from China’s extensive experience in various fields, including poverty alleviation, research and development, information technology, and media.
In response, the Chinese Political Consellor articulated a vision of CPEC as a “corridor of love and friendship.” She pledged increased cooperation between China and Pakistan in the areas of media, information technology, agriculture, and the industrial sector.
The meeting also included the presence of key figures such as Federal Secretary Information and Broadcasting Zahoor Ahmed, the Executive Director General of the EP Wing, the Managing Director of APP, the Director General of PBC, and the Director of Current Affairs at PTV.
This intensified collaboration between Pakistan and China’s media spheres reflects a commitment to mutual understanding, enhanced communication, and more extensive coverage of the groundbreaking CPEC projects, which are poised to transform the economic landscape of both nations.
