Pakistan Mission in UAE hosts ‘Pakistan Night’ to highlight IT potential

Dubai: The Pakistan Mission to the United Arab Emirates, in partnership with the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT), Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB), and the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), hosted Pakistan Night, a high-profile networking event aimed at showcasing the country’s digital potential and fostering global partnerships for its tech sector.

The event, held on the sidelines of GITEX Global 2025, brought together senior officials, diplomats, Emirati representatives, and exhibitors from the international innovation ecosystem.

Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja attended as chief guest, alongside Rana Ihsan Afzal Khan, Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Commerce; Dr. Sohail Munir, Chairman Pakistan Digital Authority; Sajjad Mustafa Syed, Chairman P@SHA; Hussain Muhammad, Consul General of Pakistan, Dubai; and Brigadier Syed Nadir Hussain Shah of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC).

In his welcome address, Trade Counsellor Ali Zeb Khan stressed the significance of such engagements in promoting Pakistan’s IT exports and building its image as a competitive digital hub.

Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi underlined Pakistan’s potential to increase IT exports from $4 billion to $100 billion through innovation, investment, and international collaboration. He also praised the Ministry of IT for driving digital transformation and enhancing Pakistan’s visibility in global markets.

Highlighting the sector’s performance, Rana Ihsan Afzal Khan noted that IT remains Pakistan’s fastest-growing industry, averaging 20 per cent annual growth.

In her keynote address, Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja reaffirmed the government’s support for the IT sector, particularly in areas such as AI, cybersecurity, software development, and data processing. She credited Ignite and other initiatives for enabling startups to access global markets, while lauding Ambassador Tirmizi’s efforts to strengthen Pakistan-UAE relations and promote economic and technological cooperation.
