Pakistan to skip India-chaired SCO Chief Justice meet

Islamabad: Pakistan has decided not to participate in the meeting of the Chief Justices of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization to be held in India.

Spokesperson of Foreign Office Mumtaz Zahra Baloch says that the Chief Justice of Pakistan will not attend the conference of Chief Justices of Shanghai countries on March 10-12, 2023 in New Delhi due to his unavoidable engagements.

The Spokesperson of the Foreign Office said that as an active member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Pakistan regularly participates in all the activities of the organization and plays a constructive role in its results. However, the Chief Justice will not be able to participate in the dates of the conference due to his busy schedule.

It should be noted that India, as the current president of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, will host several events of the regional forum this year. India has also invited Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to the meeting of foreign ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Goa in May this year.

The spokesperson of the Foreign Office says that Pakistan has not yet taken any decision regarding the participation in the SCO Foreign Ministers Council, this matter is still under consideration and whenever there is a decision in this regard, everyone will be informed about it.

India will also host the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit this year. Apart from India and Pakistan, this organization of Shanghai countries also includes China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
