President Zardari Directs Massive Crackdown on Crime in Sindh

In a decisive move to address escalating Crime in Sindh, President Asif Ali Zardari has mandated a comprehensive operation led by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah. The directive, issued during a high-level meeting, underscores the government’s commitment to restoring law and order in the province, particularly in Karachi, amidst a surge in violent crimes.

President Zardari, flanked by federal and provincial officials along with security institution representatives, convened a special session to evaluate the law and order situation. Chief Minister Shah provided a detailed overview, highlighting improvements post-operation in riverine areas and showcasing recent high-profile events, including visits by foreign dignitaries and successful sports tournaments, as testament to enhanced security.

During the briefing upon Crime in Sindh, Sindh Rangers DG Major General Azhar Waqas reported a decline in street crime incidents, with statistics revealing a notable drop in reported cases compared to previous years. Notably, Karachi’s global crime index ranking has significantly improved from sixth to 82nd since 2014, reflecting the efficacy of recent measures.

The President emphasized the need for proactive measures, directing law enforcement agencies to target hubs facilitating the sale of stolen goods and crack down on illicit trade networks. Additionally, key initiatives such as the activation of Shaheen Force and the reinforcement of Madadgar 15 underscore the government’s commitment to bolstering security measures across the province.

With a firm stance against criminal activities, the government aims to instill confidence among citizens and create a safer environment conducive to economic growth and social prosperity. President Zardari’s directive signals a resolute effort to combat crime and uphold the rule of law, marking a significant stride towards a more secure and vibrant Sindh.
