Islamabad: The Supreme Court has sought the details of all the punishments given till now since the formation of NAB.
A three-member special bench headed by the Chief Justice of Pakistan heard the petition of Imran Khan against the NAB rules in the Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court has called for the records of the punishments in the NAB references since the coming of the NAB Ordinance till Friday.
Imran Khan’s lawyer Khawaja Haris said that a public official is a holder of public trust and is accountable. To protect, the Contempt of Court Act 2012 was brought which was declared null and void by the Supreme Court.
Justice Ijaz-ul-Hassan said, “You are trying to say that the law made against basic human rights can be thrown away on the incompetence of parliamentarians?”
The Chief Justice said that it is not written anywhere, but it is a matter of understanding. Even in the case of fake bank accounts, fundamental human rights were linked with public trust. The NAB case is different.
Khawaja Haris said whether the basic human rights should be protected or not, the court will see. After which further hearing of the case was adjourned till November 17.
