Dubai: The “Seeing RED” art exhibition, held at Mehromah Art House Gallery from April 12 to 18, was a bold and emotionally charged celebration of contemporary art, unified by a single yet powerful theme — the colour red. Curated by Jesno Jackson, founder of Art4you Gallery, the week-long exhibition brought together 45 artworks by 30 artists from diverse backgrounds, each exploring red as a medium of emotional depth, cultural symbolism, and artistic freedom.
Red is more than a colour; it is a language of passion, love, fire, danger, courage, anger, and resilience. From deep burgundies to vivid crimsons, each shade was transformed into stories and emotions through a variety of artistic styles — from abstract and figurative to conceptual and mixed media. The works engaged viewers on themes of identity, womanhood, spirituality, and inner strength, showing red in all its bold, fierce, romantic, and healing dimensions.
Jesno Jackson, a seasoned artist and curator, envisioned the exhibition as an expressive space where artists could “go bold and honest, to share their fire with the world.” Her curatorial vision ensured that red was not just a colour on canvas but a central character in each artwork’s narrative.
The exhibition featured works from acclaimed and emerging artists including Khulood Al Jabri, Dina Khataan, Reem Al Subiy, Eric Kwadwo Afranie, Thomas Antony, Mouza Al Darmaki, Sofia Ali, Andrew Scanlan, Roa Al Madani, Banashree Sengupta, Shaf Beypore, Reinier Chirino, Kumar Chadayamangalam, Aliyeh Barazandeh, Mustafa Pracha, Salma Barakat, Neethu George, Jaimee Felysse Reyes, Avigyan Bhattacharya, Zuliya Kuprina, Raveendran Valanchery, Rheanne Louise, Yashi Khatanhar, Nithin Umesh, Natalia Vityugova, Krish, Christine Leonard, Manoo Mittal, Ekaterina Sholomova, and Anuj Sarkar.
The grand opening on April 12 was a remarkable evening, graced by H.E. Yaqoob Al Ali and Dr. Najat Makki as Chief Guests. Guests of Honor included Khulood Al Jabri, Ahmed Al Mahmoud, Lara Tabet, Claudia Pinto, and Moosa Al Halyan, alongside special guests from across the UAE’s cultural and business landscapes. The gallery was filled with art lovers, collectors, and media representatives, all captivated by the powerful use of red in the artworks.
The exhibition received an overwhelmingly positive response, with visitors describing the experience as “moving,” “refreshing,” and “bold.” According to Rengi Cherian, CEO of Art4you Gallery, the success of the exhibition is a testament to the strong emotional and visual impact that thoughtful curatorial work and artistic freedom can achieve.
The closing on April 18 included a certificate presentation and guided gallery tour, providing a fitting conclusion to a week of inspiration and artistic dialogue. In her closing remarks, Jesno Jackson thanked the artists, guests, and partners, saying, “Seeing RED was not just about colour — it was about expression, emotion, and empowerment. I’m grateful to every artist who brought their story to life, and to every visitor who shared in this celebration of passion and purpose.”
