Sabah Karim’s “Home #itscomplicated” launched at Pak embassy in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi: The Embassy of Pakistan in Abu Dhabi hosted a literary evening to mark the launch of the book “Home #itscomplicated” at its premises, drawing an audience that included renowned literary figures, diplomats, and members of the Pakistani community. Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi attended the event, which featured an engaging panel discussion with contributors and literary voices.

The panel included writer and academic Zain Saeed, publisher Amber Zaffar Khan, and editor and journalist Saba Karim Khan, with Khurram Koraishy moderating the session. The discussion explored the themes and personal reflections presented in the book, offering insights into the evolving identity of Pakistanis living both at home and abroad.

“Home #itscomplicated” is a compelling anthology of essays penned by acclaimed Pakistani writers, thinkers, doctors, filmmakers, and journalists, including Khalid Anam, Omar Shahid Hamid, Awais Khan, Ali Khan, Muhammad Ali Bandial, and others. The book, edited by Sabah Karim Khan, brings together narratives that examine the idea of “home” through deeply personal and thought-provoking lenses.

During the panel discussions, the speakers emphasized the emotional and cultural ties that Pakistani writers, especially those in the diaspora, continue to maintain with their homeland. They noted that Pakistan, with its population of over 240 million people, rich linguistic diversity, and extraordinary natural landscape, cannot be defined solely through media headlines or fleeting narratives.

Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi expressed his appreciation to the panelists and audience for their participation, commending the contributors for assembling a book that opens a window into the lives and experiences of Pakistanis beyond conventional portrayals. He described the collection as a narrative of love, resilience, and attachment that resonates with the broader Pakistani identity.

In his remarks, the Ambassador encouraged Pakistani writers and publishers to actively engage in literary platforms such as the ongoing Abu Dhabi Book Festival. He emphasized the importance of showcasing Pakistan’s rich cultural and intellectual heritage and promoting its soft image through art, literature, and dialogue.
