Islamabad: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif has unveiled Maryam Nawaz as the party’s nominee for the coveted position of Chief Minister Punjab. This declaration came during a press conference in Islamabad, where key political figures including PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, MQM’s Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, and PML-Q’s chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain gathered in a display of unity.
Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the need for a collaborative approach in steering the nation out of its current challenges, expressing his intention to urge Nawaz Sharif to assume the premiership. PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb echoed this sentiment in a tweet, confirming the nominations of Shehbaz Sharif for the prime ministerial role and Maryam Nawaz for Punjab’s chief ministership. Aurangzeb highlighted Nawaz Sharif’s gratitude towards all political parties for their cooperation, expressing confidence in Pakistan’s ability to overcome economic hurdles under this leadership.

Moreover, in a remarkable turn of events, major political parties including PML-N, PPP, MQM, PML-Q, Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party, and the Balochistan Awami Party have joined forces to establish a coalition government. This alliance was solidified during a pivotal meeting hosted by Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, indicating a unified front in addressing the nation’s challenges.
Former President Asif Zardari emphasized the importance of inclusive governance, extending an invitation to PTI to participate in the reconciliation process. He stressed the necessity of aligning on economic agendas for the greater good of Pakistan, transcending past electoral differences.
