ISLAMABAD: Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rashid Ahmed will be indicted in the case related to the murder plot allegations against Pakistan Peoples Party Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari on March 2.
Sheikh Rashid had alleged that the former president had plotted to assassinate Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan.
The district and sessions court in Islamabad has also ordered that the AML chief should be present in the court for his indictment on March 2.
Sheikh Rashid, however, requested the court that the indictment date may be changed to March 15 as he has to attend a conference. The court denied, saying the Islamabad High Court has given its orders and the date cannot be extended.
Local media reports said that Sheikh Rashid also appeared in the court of Judicial Magistrate Omar Shabbir along with his lawyer on Saturday, seeking registration of a case against the SHO of Abpara Police Station for not returning his belongings that were taken away at the time of his arrest.
However, the judicial magistrate returned the application, saying it was not in his jurisdiction and it should be submitted in a sessions court.
