DUBAI: The 4th edition of ‘Swaralaya Symphony on Strings’ concert is set to enchant audiences on June 9 at the Emirates Theatre in Jumeirah, Dubai.
The show will commence at 7:00pm, featuring an extraordinary fusion of Indian classical music and modern music, led by Purbayan Chatterjee, the acclaimed sitar maestro and President of India Awardee.
Purbayan will be accompanied by his distinguished peers in the art form including Ojas Adhiya, a modern tabla prodigy, NJ Nandagopal, mridangam artist and Ruthvik Rao, a keyboard player. Together, the performers will bring their exceptional talents to the stage, promising an unforgettable musical experience.

Recognised as one of India’s leading musicians, Purbayan Chatterjee is a renowned sitar maestro who’s known for his innovative approach to Indian classical music, seamlessly blending it with various world genres. He has collaborated with legendary artists such as Ustad Zakir Hussain, Béla Fleck, Michael League with the Band Snarky Puppy, Shankar Mahadevan and Jazz legend Herbie Hancock.
He has showcased his musical prowess and versatility with music connoisseurs worldwide at prestigious festivals including the Roskilde Festival in Denmark, OzAsia Festival in Australia and Traumzeit Festival in Germany. He is now going to grace music lovers with his presence at Swaralaya Symphony on Strings.
Joining him is Ojas Adhiya, known as a child prodigy in tabla. Recognised by the Limca Book of World Records as the youngest tabla player in India in 1993, Ojas Adhiya has received numerous accolades, including the Ustad Bismillah Khan Puraskar. He excels in numerous music genres and has shared the stage with icons such as John McLaughlin and Ustad Amjad Ali Khan.
NJ Nandagopal, a highly accomplished mridangam artist known for his elegant stage presence and musical improvisation, will also be part of the concert. He has performed with stalwarts from the Carnatic music field and is celebrated for his anticipation and nuanced understanding of the art form.
Ruthvik Rao will also perform at the Swaralaya Symphony on Strings 2024 edition. He is an acclaimed keyboard player from Bengaluru, now residing in Mumbai, who started his musical journey at the age of 15. He has made significant contributions to Kannada film scores and albums, establishing himself as a prominent figure in the regional music scene.
