TURBAT: The bodies of six people with bullet wounds were recovered from Balochistan’s Turbat district on Thursday, with officials saying the victims were labourers from different parts of the country.
According to police, the bodies were found in the Nasirabad area of Turbat. After receiving information about the incident, local administration officials reached the site and shifted the bodies to a hospital.
Police officials said the victims had been shot dead, while an investigation was underway to determine their identities, the motive behind the killings and those responsible.
Officials said all aspects of the incident were being examined and further details would be shared after completion of the investigation. No final statement has been issued regarding the possible motive or involvement of any group.
Balochistan government’s Special Assistant Babar Yousafzai said the recovered bodies belonged to labourers, including four from Punjab and two from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He said seven labourers had been abducted by unidentified armed men two days earlier from the Kalatuk area of Kech district. According to Yousafzai, one of the abducted workers was killed shortly after the incident.
The incident comes weeks after three bodies were recovered from different areas of Balochistan.
One of the victims, identified as Master Abid Muhammad Umar, was found dead in the Dasht area after being abducted by unidentified armed men. In another incident, two people were shot dead in the Sarikoran area of Panjgur district.
Security officials have launched investigations into the recent incidents as authorities continue efforts to identify those involved in targeted killings across the province.
