Karachi: One of the suspects involved in the Itteqa Murder Case has managed to escape from police custody in Karachi. Itteqa Moeen, a gold medallist engineer, was tragically shot during a robbery in Gulshan-e-Iqbal’s Block 7 earlier this month, sparking widespread outrage.
The suspectof Itteqa Murder Case, identified as Zahir, fled while being transported from the court premises to a police van. Sources close to the investigation revealed that Zahir, who was not handcuffed or restrained, took advantage of the crowded court environment. He reportedly pushed a police official and fled on foot, evading capture.
“This incident highlights serious negligence on the part of court police,” sources commented, noting that proper security measures, such as handcuffing, were not implemented despite the gravity of the case.

Following the escape, law enforcement authorities swiftly initiated a search operation. An official involved in the incident has been detained for negligence, pending further investigation. CCTV footage from the court premises is under review to aid in apprehending the escaped suspect.
Security measures have been heightened on roads leading out of Karachi, particularly those towards Balochistan. Police checkpoints have been established, and buses traveling to Balochistan are being thoroughly inspected. Additionally, raids are being conducted across Karachi to locate and detain the fugitive.
Zahir was apprehended by the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) in Quetta and subsequently transferred to Karachi for legal proceedings related to Moeen’s murder case. The escape has raised concerns about the security protocols surrounding high-profile criminal detainees in the city.
