Dubai: Captain Muhammad Waseem scored 55 as the United Arab Emirates defeated New Zealand by seven wickets at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Saturday to level the three-part Twenty20 International series.

United Arab Emirates were all out for 143 after again opting to bowl first, losing opener Aryansh Sharma without scoring before Waseem and Vriitya Aravind (25) levelled the match.

Waseem hit four fours and three sixes in his 29-ball knock, which ended with him hitting left-arm spinner Mitchell Santner for extra cover.

Asif Khan finished with 48 knocks when he threw three boundaries to New Zealand captain Tim Southee in the 16th over to complete the win with 26 balls to spare.

Mark Chapman’s 63 was the standout contribution to New Zealand’s 142-8.

Opener Chad Bowes and Jimmy Neesham, who both scored 21, were the only other batsmen to reach double figures for the tourists.
