London: Scotland Yard has released political activist Gulfam Hussain on bail, with a strict restriction preventing him from approaching the Avenfield flats, the residence of the Sharif family. Hussain was arrested on Friday night for making threatening statements towards Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, former PM Nawaz Sharif, and other family members, including threats to blow up the Park Lane flats during a live TikTok broadcast.
Hussain, who previously spent four months with PML-N before switching allegiance to PTI, spoke to Geo News following his release. He stated, “The police have banned me from going near the Sharif family flats on Avenfield flats or I will be arrested again. I am on bail till April. The police arrested and showed me videos I uploaded on TikTok. These were political statements. I don’t believe in violence. I will continue my struggle.”
The activist confirmed that police had seized four of his mobile phones as part of an ongoing investigation. Hussain expressed his frustration over Imran Khan’s conviction in the £190 million case, noting, “I went there for the live show because some supporters of PTI asked me to prove my loyalty and I had to show them that I am actually really against the Sharifs.”
Hussain’s recent TikTok broadcasts featured threats to blow up the Avenfield apartments and to drag members of the Sharif family through the streets of London. He also directed criticism at Pakistan’s military leadership.
Hussain was arrested while live-streaming outside the Avenfield flats, interacting with his TikTok followers. The arrest followed a complaint by Khurram Butt, the leader of PML-N UK’s Youth Wing, who had previously petitioned against Imran Khan’s candidacy for Oxford University’s Chancellor position.
