‘80% chance’ I’ll be arrested on Tuesday, Imran

Lahore: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan has expressed fear that the Islamabad police may arrest him when he appears in court on Tuesday for bail in the cases.

Speaking in an interview to CNN, he said that there is an 80 chance that I will be arrested, there is no rule of law at this time. Everything is being done only to destroy our democracy. More than 10 thousand workers were arrested while my entire senior leadership is in jail.

He said that there were assassination attacks on me and the reason for the assassination attempt was that PDM had lost the by-elections and PTI was gaining more and more popularity. So I knew that my life was in danger and I had to talk about it openly.

The former prime minister expressed apprehension about the PDM government’s intentions regarding the general elections scheduled for October and expressed concern over the possibility that the elections could be postponed until the government is confident that PTI will not succeed.

Stressing the importance of a strong defense system for Pakistan’s stability, the PTI chief described the current times as “unpredictable”.

Imran Khan acknowledged his past cooperation with former Army Chief General (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa. However, he claimed that attempts were made to remove him from power during the last six months of the PTI government.
